All the infrastructure and applications are hosted in Omnilogic's Tier 3 Data Center, located in Otopeni.

What is virtualization?

The technique of managing and presenting storage devices and resources functionally, regardless of their physical layout or location.

What is a virtual machine (VM)?

A virtual machine (VM) is an environment, usually a program or operating system, which emulates a physical server, spread across multiple physical processors and mass-storage devices usually located within a datacenter. This dynamic approach offers a high level of availability and security, combined with significant cost savings, since maximizes the workload for both CPUs and storage. In this context, a VM is called a "guest" while the environment it runs within is called a "host." Virtual machines are often created to execute an instruction set different than that of the host environment. One host environment can often run multiple VMs at once. Because VMs are spread across the physical resources they use, the host environment is often able to dynamically assign those resources among them.

What is the most compelling benefit of a VM?

Server consolidation is the most compelling benefit of virtual machines. A typical non-virtualized application server may reach just 5% to 10% utilization. But a virtual server that hosts multiple VMs can easily reach 50% to 80% utilization.

What is server virtualization?

Server virtualization is a generalized term describing the ability to host multiple complete OS images on a single hardware platform. Both OS virtualization and hardware virtualization technologies result in the creation of a virtual server. The way that the OS interacts with the hardware platform is modified so that multiple OS instances can share the underlying hardware platform. Server virtualization is often used to consolidate multiple smaller (or older) servers onto a single, large server, without changing how the applications or OS is managed.

What is a virtual private server ?

= (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of splitting a server. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.

What are the benefits of VPS?

Virtual Private Servers give you all of the benefits of a dedicated server with a significantly lower cost, plus high availability environment and data security. Can I upgrade software myself on a virtual server? (Apache, PHP, MySQL etc) Yes, your VPS account comes with root access. You have the same permissions and flexibility of your very own server.

Will other users be able to crash the VPS?

No, the advanced virtualization technology allows complete isolation of one VPS to another. An accidental or intentional errors that occur in another VPS will not affect yours.

Can I add more users? Will they have root permissions?

You are able to create as many users as you like, but your are limited by the licence you use for your VPS.

Is there a way for me to back up my VPS?

Yes, you can perform backup and maintenance from within your control panel. The backup will take a snap-shot of your VPS.

What happens if my VPS is malfunctioning after the maintenance I performed on it. How can I restore my VPS?

No worry. With a click of a button from your VPS control panel, you can restore your VPS to the state of your latest VPS backup.

My VPS is not responding. I can't SSH into it. What should I do?

You can easily stop and start your VPS from within your VPS control panel. The VPS will be cleanly unmounted and then remounted again.

The following Operating Systems are available: Linux Ubuntu latest version, Linux Open SUSE latest version, Linux Debian latest version, Open Solaris latest version, CentOS latest version, Windows Server Web, Windows Server Standard, Windows Server Enterprise.
